Containerization & Intermodal Institute to host a webinar that asks the question: How are we preparing our next generation of supply chain leaders to take the industry into the future?
The virtual round table will bring together industry and scholarly leaders to discuss bridging the gap between academic preparedness and real-world industry requirements
Furthering its commitment to advancing the international trade and transportation industry, the Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) is conducting its first-ever webinar entitled: Building the Supply Chain Workforce of the Future--Bridging the gap between next generation preparedness and industry requirements. The 90-minute webinar will be conducted on April 28, 2021 at 10am PST/1:00pm EST. Attendance is free.
“One of the most significant concerns among transportation and supply chain leaders is where the next innovators, trailblazers and forward-thinking visionaries will come from. Today’s leaders want to leave the supply chain in good hands and they question if the next generation is up to the task,” said Steve Blust, President, CII. “Because CII believes in the power of education, we feel it is important that the schools collaborate with the industry to ensure their students are developing the right skillset to eventually take the reins.”
The panel will be comprised of a diverse group of industry and academic leaders:
Co-Moderators:
Susan Shay Dvonch, Partner, Shey-Harding Associates, Inc.
Scott Grawe, Iowa State, Department Chair, Supply Chain Management
Industry Panelists:
Scott Binns, Director, Talent Acquisition, Crowley Maritime
Josh Dolan, VP, Global Logistics, Cardinal Health
Bill Rooney, VP, Strategic Development, Kuehne + Nagel USA
Academic Institution Panelists:
Dr. Christopher (Chris) Clott, SUNY Maritime, Professor, Global Business and Transportation Department
Warren Cohen, Rutgers, Assistant Professor of Professional Practice with SCM Department of Business School
Dr. Thomas O’Brien, California State University, Long Beach, Executive Director, Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT)
Addressing the real-world needs of the evolving transportation, logistics and supply chain workforce, this webinar will bring together industry leaders and academic institutions to discuss the gap between graduate preparedness and industry expectations, looking at hiring requirements for today and the skillset needed for tomorrow.
“As the supply chain evolves, the requirements of our next generation of logistics professionals are changing and we have to look at addressing the gap between scholarly and real-world preparedness. During this webinar, we will ask our industry experts what skillsets and experience they are looking for when hiring, and we will ask our academic experts what they are doing to ensure their graduates are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead,” said Greg Tuthill, CII Board Member and Webinar Committee Chairman. “All of our panelists agree we need a collaborative approach to reach our goal of building a strong workforce that will successfully lead the supply chain into the future.”
There will be no charge to attend the event. Sponsorships are available for those individuals and companies looking to support the education mission of CII. All sponsors will be highlighted on all promotional material and outreach efforts.
