As an intern with the Workforce Development training program offered by Containerization and Intermodal Institute, Zach was able to have a hands-on experience working in the Operations Department at MSC which solidified his career path in the supply chain industry.

Growing up around the Port of Los Angeles, Sandra Maksim, Operations Manager, Long Beach Container Terminal, always knew she would work in the transportation and logistics industry. As a high school student in the International Trade Educations Program (ITEP), now known as EXP Future, Sandra had already been identified as a student with great leadership skills and potential to really make her mark on the supply chain.

While in the Global Logistics Specialist (GLS) training program offered by the Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Esmeralda Agredano-Salazar was identified by her professors as a rising star and was recommended to receive a CII scholarship in 2018.

Andrew Hendrix received his CII scholarship at the Newark Connie Award luncheon in 2014 while studying at Kings Point. Currently, Andrew is on short term active-duty orders as a Strategic Sealift Officer in the Navy Reserve. While he is proud to be serving as a reservist, he looks forward to returning to his position as Assistant Operations Manager in the marine department at Virginia International Gateway, which is part of the Port of Virginia.

2017 CII Scholarship recipient and recently promoted Supply Planning Manager at L'Oréal Cosmetics Company, Peyton Elder has found his niche in supply chain management, which he admits was not part of his career plan as a freshman at Seton Hall University.  With a passion for sustainability and preserving the earth’s resources, the environmental studies major inadvertently changed the trajectory of his career when he selected supply chain management as his concentration.

Ryan Waller

For Ryan Waller, a CII scholarship recipient from 2011, his career as an Operations Manager for Metropolitan Stevedore Corp. (Metro Ports) took a right turn while working for Orange Commercial Credit in Transportation Credit and Financing. He managed multiple clients with an average daily balance of $1.5 million.

Samantha Chang Cartolin

2022 CII Scholarship recipient and now a Supply Chain Analyst at Intel Corporation, Samantha Chang Cartolin has been focused on furthering her education ever since emigrating from Lima, Peru.

Matthew Mei is an up-and-coming supply chain professional who recently graduated at the top of his class with a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management from the Rutgers School of Business in Newark, NJ.
